dc.description.abstract | Brazilian breeders have recognized the need to improve sugarcane multiplication efficiency during the selection phases by using high-quality propagating material. The Sugarcane Program of the Agronomy Institute developed a multiplication system called pre-budded seedlings (PBS) that was released to the cane growers. The aim was to apply the PBS system in selection Phase 2 (P2) allowing an increase in the size of the selection plots, enabling more uniformity in the trials and enlarging the sampling area by 400%. | |
