The evolution of sucrose content and mill recovery rates in sugarcane varieties from 1928 to 1981 is analyzed to understand the improvement in sugar production efficiency. The study reveals a significant increase in sucrose content and mill recovery rates over the years, indicating advancements in varietal selection and breeding programs. The correlation between sucrose content and mill recovery rates is highlighted, emphasizing the importance of genetic improvements in enhancing sugar yield from sugarcane cultivation.
