Studies on varietal resistance to the sugarcane moth borer (Chilo spp) were conducted with 26 commercial varieties. Results showed varying degrees of resistance to borer infestation, with implications of fiber content on susceptibility. Genetic studies indicate quantitative nature of resistance. Immunity observed in certain varieties, while susceptibility was noted in others.
