The study investigates the mechanism of leaching in Vertisols (cracking clays) to understand how salts accumulated along crack edges affect sugarcane growth. Results show salt accumulation and leaching patterns within soil blocks, highlighting the importance of water conservation techniques in retaining good growth and productivity of sugarcane on cracking clays.
